The Witcher 1 Map
The first Witcher game, released in 2007 and later as the Enhanced Edition, stays close to one city: Vizima, the capital of Temeria. After a prologue at Kaer Morhen, each chapter opens a new district or nearby area, from the farms outside the walls to the flooded ruins of Old Vizima.
Unlike The Witcher 3, there is no single open world. Each chapter has its own area map. This guide shows what each area holds and where it sits on the Continent.

Frequently asked questions
Does The Witcher 1 have an open world map?
No. Each chapter has its own area with a separate map, and you travel between them as the story moves on.
Can I go back to earlier areas?
Mostly no. Once a chapter ends, its area usually stays behind, so finish side quests before you move on.
Is Vizima in The Witcher 3 too?
Yes. The royal palace in Vizima appears in The Witcher 3 when Geralt meets Emperor Emhyr, and White Orchard lies nearby.
