About Us

The Witcher Map is an independent fan project that builds free, fast interactive maps for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and a lore map of the whole Continent, in eight languages.

Why this site exists

The Witcher 3 is a huge game. Between Velen, Novigrad, Skellige and Toussaint there are thousands of places worth finding: signposts, Places of Power, treasure hunts, Gwent players, monster nests and hidden caches. The in-game map shows only what you have already discovered, so most players end up searching wikis, videos and forum threads while they play.

We wanted one place that answers the question "where is it?" in seconds, works on a phone propped next to the screen, and does not ask you to sign up or pay to keep track of your progress. That is what this site tries to be.

What you will find here

  • Interactive maps for every Witcher 3 region: Velen and Novigrad (with the Hearts of Stone areas), the Skellige Isles, Toussaint from Blood and Wine, White Orchard and Kaer Morhen, plus the Isle of Mists, the Land of a Thousand Fables and Gaunter O’Dimm’s world.
  • Close to 3,000 markers in nearly 40 categories, each with notes on what you will find and when it becomes available.
  • A landing page for every category on every map, such as all Gwent players in Velen or all smugglers’ caches in Skellige, with a list you can scan quickly.
  • Free progress tracking with several playthroughs, export and import, and a link for every marker so you can share an exact spot.
  • An illustrated map of the Continent with the kingdoms, cities and places from the books, the games and the Netflix series.
  • Chapter-by-chapter guides that show where The Witcher 1 and The Witcher 2 take place.

Where the data comes from

The Witcher 3 markers and map tiles come from the community project witcher3map, created by untamed0, and its enhanced fork by root-BB (BaHTsIzBEdEvi), with map and asset extraction by DesignGears and hhrhhr. Both are published under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, and we keep the same license for the converted data.

We convert that data into a compact format, clean up the text, check that every marker sits inside its map and has a known category, and render the tiles as modern WebP images so they load quickly. The Continent map is an illustration made for this site; the positions of places on it follow the books and the games and are approximate.

How we keep it accurate

Every page is checked automatically before it goes live: we test that links work, that every marker has a valid position and category, and that each language version links to all the others. When players report a missing or misplaced marker, we verify it against the game and update the map.

If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the contact page. A screenshot and the marker link (from the Copy link button) help us fix it fast.

Built to be fast, private and accessible

The site is a set of static pages served from Cloudflare’s global network, so pages open quickly almost anywhere. Markers are drawn on a single canvas, which keeps even the largest region smooth on phones. Your progress is stored only in your own browser; we do not ask for an account, and we use Google Analytics only to learn which pages and maps are most useful.

Every page is available in English, Español, 日本語, Français, Deutsch, Português, 한국어 and Italiano.
